The 26-year-old Canadian fitness model, from Montreal, Quebec, refers to himself as a “serial entrepreneur,” and in today’s digital age, that means attracting millions of followers as a personal trainer, vlogger, podcaster, model and public speaker that’s taken him all across Canada and the U.S., but also China, Costa Rica and soon Thailand.
Fitt likes to tell his Instagram followers annoyingly uplifting things like, “Don’t limit yourself because of what people think you should be doing. Follow your heart.”
But who can argue with that sentiment, right?
Is Fitt an overachiever? Yes. Certainly. For sure. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
Turns out he’s just getting started.
In between hitting the gym five times a week, Fitt recently launched his own streetwear clothing company called Maison Nord, a nod to finding your own personal true North—that thing—any thing—that inspires you to be a better person.
Traveling opens your eyes to new cultures and creates so many memories. It will also make you realize that there’s not only one way to live life.
“Launching a clothing brand was my way to create something different and unique and inspire others to pursue their goals,” Fitt told Marriott TRAVELER.
As Fitt says on his blog, “I’ve never wanted to be a run-of-the-mill online fitness personality. Far from it. What I do is show people who I am, who I was, and what I’ve done in order to not only reach my full potential, but guide you towards doing the same.
To put it simply, Fitt is the perfect embodiment of today’s Fit Traveler: “Fitness has become a way of life for me, and I also want to keep inspiring others to get fit so staying fit is a great way to do so,” he says.
Okay, fine. We’re sold.
Why should people care about fitness?
For their health mainly, to be able to enjoy their life to their full potential and feel good in their skin. But also because of the hard work and discipline it involves. It can be applied in any sphere of your life, for me training is the moment in the day I’m all by myself, the moment I can focus on one single thing, perform and then go out to the world and be ready mentally to crush it. I would say, it’s my type of meditation.
People who follow you online can see what your fitness routine is like. But how would you describe it?
Since I’m a busy entrepreneur, I like to make my workouts effective and intense. I don’t spend more than 60 minutes in the gym but I keep the intensity high. I always include compound movements such as rack pulls, deadlifts, squats and bench press. I go to the gym five times a week normally and have been enjoying sauna sessions after my workouts lately to improve recovery, increase growth hormone and overall well being.
What’s your favorite workout?
The kind of workout where I give it all, just like it was my last one.
What do you tell the person who thinks that hitting the gym is too hard or time consuming?
Don’t wait until it’s too late to take care of the body you’re in. Everything is hard, but the more you do it, the easier it will get. The hardest part is to be at the gym, after that it’s easy so kick yourself in the but and go after it. There’s no perfect time to start, just do it.
Congratulations on launching Maison Nord. Why did you want to launch a clothing brand?
I’ve always been passionate about fashion. As a matter of fact, I was customizing my own clothing since I was very young, making holes, cutting sleeves, making it different. I’ve always preached to go after what you want, to pursue your passion so I decided to jump on the occasion and launch it after two years of working on it.
How would you describe Maison Nord as a brand?
Maison Nord is a lifestyle fashion brand and every collection will be unique, in limited quantities and also super fashion forward. We preach as a brand to encourage the youth to follow the little voice inside them that tells them to seek their true north. Their dream.
Don’t wait until it’s too late to take care of the body you’re in. Everything is hard, but the more you do it, the easier it will get.
Where do you currently live and what makes it special?
I currently live in Montreal, Quebec. That’s also where I’m from. I live near a forest and it feels nice not to be in a super crowded city.
Where do you tend to hang out in Montreal?
I enjoy my balcony where I can meditate, read and enjoy recording podcast. There’s also a sushi restaurant called Wasabi where I really enjoy going to and a small ice cream place that serves the best Oreo ice cream ever.
Do you have a favorite bar or restaurant? What would you recommend someone order?
I’m not a big fan of bars and clubs but anywhere where my friends and family is would be a great place to go. I usually order a rum and coke. Coke Zero if they have some, but it’s rare!
I went to New York last winter and enjoyed the best salad of my life at this little restaurant called Spiegel on the Lower East Side. The vibe was great too as I was in great company. I would go back to New York for this salad, no joke!
With so much going on in the world, what does it mean to be Canadian today?
I’m really proud to be Canadian. For me, being Canadian is all about being peaceful and open to different cultures.
Why should people visit Canada?
Because people here are really friendly, and Canada has incredible natural wonders to offer.
Where have you been recently that really impressed you?
I went to China and visited Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The mountains were an unbelievable sight that I’ll never forget.
